Vintage Lorry Marketplace is an online classifieds platform connecting buyers and sellers of vintage lorries, spare parts, and related collectibles. We are based in the United Kingdom.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data:

  • Sellers: Name, email address, phone number, location, and listing content (including photos).
  • Buyers: Name and email address submitted via contact request forms, and any messages sent through the platform's messaging feature.
  • All users: Usage data such as page views and listing interactions.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Operate and display marketplace listings.
  • Facilitate contact requests between buyers and sellers, including automatic sharing of contact details where the seller has opted in to auto-approve.
  • Provide an anonymous messaging feature for buyers and sellers to communicate about a listing.
  • Send transactional emails (e.g. listing status updates, contact request notifications, expiry reminders).
  • Improve the platform and respond to support enquiries.

4. Lawful Basis (UK GDPR)

We process your personal data under the following lawful bases:

  • Contract: To provide the marketplace service you have signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests: To operate the platform, prevent fraud, and facilitate buyer-seller communication.
  • Consent: Where you have voluntarily submitted contact details via our enquiry forms.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Seller contact details (phone number and email) are shared with a buyer when a contact request is approved — either by the seller directly, automatically where the seller has opted in to auto-approve, or by a platform administrator acting on the seller's behalf. Messages sent through the platform's messaging feature are visible to the buyer and seller involved, and may be accessed by platform administrators for safety and fraud prevention. We may share data with trusted third-party services (e.g. email delivery) solely to operate the platform.

6. Data Retention

Listings and all associated personal data (including seller contact details and buyer enquiry records) are automatically removed from the platform 6 months after the listing was first published. Sellers will be notified before removal and are welcome to renew their listing if the item is still available. You may also request deletion of your data at any time before the 6-month period expires.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113. You have the right to do this at any time if you believe we have not handled your data lawfully.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
